Tour Package: 18 Days, Beijing - Xi'an -  Nanjing - Yangzhou -  Suzhou - Shanghai - Hangzhou - Guilin - Hong Kong

 


17 day tour with 4-star hotel accommodation. Beijing (4N), Xi'an (2N), Nanjing (1N), Yangzhou (2N), Suzhou (2N), Shanghai (1N), Hangzhou (2N), Guilin (2N), Hongkong (1N)

Day 1-4 Beijing

As outlined in 3 DAYS BEIJING.

Day 5 Xi'an

Board our morning flight for Xi'an. On arrival, you'll be escorted to a 4-star hotel. After lunch we visit the City Wall, Grand Mosque, and Big Wild-Goose Pagoda.

Day 6 Xi'an

Today we visit the Terra-cotta warriors, Hua Qing Hot Springs and Banpo Neolithic Museum. In the evening we return to the hotel for dinner and the Tang Dynasty song and dance performances.

Day 7 Nanjing

Fly to Nanjing and transfer to the 3-star hotel. We have a tour to the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, China's first president and then go to visit the famous Yangtze River Bridge.

Day 8 Yangzhou

Morning visit to Confucius Temple, outside which the slow-motion rituals of Taiji are performed as the local people limber up for the day. A short bus journey brings us to Yangzhou for lunch. Yangzhou is famed for its cuisine and scenery. In the afternoon we visit China's most outstanding jade carving factory and the Geyuan Garden (one of China's four most treasured traditional gardens). Stay at a 3-star hotel for the night.

Day 9 Yangzhou

The whole morning is devoted to exploring the beauty of the Slender West Lake surrounded by classical gardens and a series of elegantly arched bridges with pavilions, which we view while having a cruise on the dragon boat. We have the afternoon free to admire this scenic town at our own pace. A visit to the thatched cottage, Yechun Yuan Teahouse on the canal is recommended.

Day 10 Suzhou via Zhenjiang

Cross the Yangtze River to arrive at Zhenjiang and change to a train for Suzhou and, upon arrival, transfer to the 4-star hotel. In the afternoon, we visit the Humble Administrator's Garden for which Suzhou is famed. We also visit an embroidery factory to witness the intricate work involved in producing the region's renowned double-sided embroidery. In the evening there is an optional visit to the Garden of the Master of the Nets for performances of traditional music at its different halls and pavilions.

Day 11 Tongli & Zhouzhuang

A full day visit to the picturesque ancient canal town of Zhouzhuang, reached from Tongli by a leisurely canal cruise. On our journey back to Suzhou, we visit Tongli's charming Tuisiyuan Garden.

Day 12 Shanghai

Morning visit to the Garden of the Master of the Nets and a silk spinning factory. After lunch, we leave for Shanghai by train. On arrival visit Nanjing Road and the Bund with its famous skyline before transferring to the 4-star hotel.

Day 13 Hangzhou

In the morning we visit the Jade Buddha Temple and Yuyuan Garden situated opposite the Wuxing Teahouse in the old quarter of the city. A short train journey through rice paddies and traditional houses brings us to the city of Hangzhou which Marco Polo described as "the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world". Accommodation is at the 4-star hotel.

Day 14 Hangzhou

We take a boat trip on the West Lake surrounded by idyllic gardens. We are also taken to the Guozhuang and Quyuan Gardens and Huagang Park. The afternoon is free.

Day 15 Guilin

The Hangzhou area is famous for its green tea and we have the opportunity to visit a tea plantation and sample their blends. We also visit the Lingyin Temple before flying to Guilin where we stay at the 4-star hotel. The scenery in Guilin is unique: from the valley flowers and paddy-fields rise hundreds of individual cone-shaped mountains that are clothed in dense vegetation and elegantly stand and compete with one another. In the evening we can join an optional river boat excursion to watch the cormorant fishermen.

Day 16 Guilin

A boat trip on the Li River takes us to the village of Yangshuo. Back to Guilin in the late afternoon with time for shopping.

Day 17 Guilin - Hong Kong

Transfer to airport for the flight for Hong Kong.
