Lhasa (2N) - Beijing (1N)
Day 1 Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, you will be
escorted and transferred to hotel. In the afternoon, we visit the
Tiananmen Square, the largest of its kind in the world. Then we go to
see the Temple of Heaven.
Day 2 Beijing
A full day tour to the Great Wall and
Ming Tombs. Built by Emperor Qin Shi Huang in 214 BC the Great Wall is
the only man-made structure that can be seen from the moon. After
visiting the Ming Tombs, where 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty were
buried, we travel back to the city in the late afternoon.
Day 3 Beijing
After breakfast we leave for a full day sightseeing to the Forbidden
City, the imperial palace. It was from here that the emperors of
Ming(1368 - 1644) and Qing(1644 - 1911) ruled China. In the afternoon we
have a short stop at the Zoo to see the panda and then continue our trip
to visit the beautiful Summer Palace, the traditional summer residence
for the emperors built in 1750. We will enjoy a Peking Duck banquet in
the evening.
Day 4 Beijing - Xian
Morning is free. In the afternoon we fly
to the ancient capital of Xi'an and, on arrival, visit the City Wall
before checking our hotel for the night.
Day 5 Xian
Today we visit the massive burial place
where the first Qin Emperor was guarded by his terra-cotta Army in the
underworld. The other interesting sites include the Huaqing Hot Spring
and the Neolithic Village of Banpo.
Day 6 Xian - Chengdu
We will spend the whole morning in the
new Provincial History Museum to learn about Chinese history. After
lunch we take a flight for Chengdu. We will have some time to visit the
local market so that you may taste some of the spicy local food.
Day 7 Chengdu - Lhasa
Board a morning flight, fly over the mystery land, arrive at the Lhasa
airport, and transfer to our hotel. We suggest that you have a rest to
get acclimatized to the high altitude.
Day 8 Lhasa
Lhasa retains an air of remoteness. Its
life has a medieval atmosphere, although many recent changes are
apparent as Tibet opens up more and more to the outside world. In the
morning we visit the Sera Monastery on the outskirts of Lhasa. It is one
of the largest monasteries in Lhasa, affiliated to the "Yellow Hat
Sect." In the afternoon, we visit the Jokhang Temple, a place for
pilgrims from all parts of Tibet. Barkhor Square is the heart of the
local bazaar and always popular with visitors.
Day 9 Lhasa
This morning we visit the Potala Palace,
home to Dalai Lama. Its numerous rooms, darkened halls, and frescoes lit
by glimmering butter lamps with their acrid smell always remind visitors
of Tibet. In the afternoon we visit the Norbulingka or the Summer
Palace.
Day 10 Lhasa - Xigatze
Today our exploration takes us to the
clear blue waters of the Yamdrok Lake that has the Himalayas as its
backdrop. We travel first through the Kambala Pass that is 5,000 meters
above sea level and then Gyantse before arriving in Xigatze, the second
largest city of Tibet, late in the evening.
Day 11 Xigatze
Sightseeing tour to a Tibetan village and
the principal temple of Panchan's city - the Tachilumpo.
Day 12 Xigatze - Lhasa
Travel back to Lhasa. Depending on
weather conditions, we may choose a different route as when we have
come.

will be met and transferred to hotel. After lunch we have a free
afternoon for shopping or walking around to see more of Beijing. In the
evening attend an imperial banquet at Fangshan Restaurant in Beihai
Park, one of the imperial gardens in the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Day 14
In the morning, we go to the airport for
a home flight.
